Tadoba gets its name from the God Tadoba or Taru which the local tribal population here worship. A river flows through the park whose name is Andhari, hence the name Tadoba-Andhari National Park. This forest is typically filled with Southern Tropical Dry Deciduous Trees, and you can see a lot of Teak here. Jamun, Arjun and Mango trees can also be spotted here.
This forest lies in the Chandrapur district of Maharashtra and Nagpur is the closest airport from here. The Indian Bison, Leopard, wild dog, Barking deer, the Sloth Bear, and the Bengal Tiger form the major attractions of a jungle safari in India and specifically here at Tadoba.
The best time to visit the Tadoba National Park is from October to June. The temperatures are not extreme here, but summer(late March to early June) visits are generally preferred as many animals are spotted during that time.
